It was Naval who said;

Learn how to build, learn how to sell. If you can do both you’ll become unstoppable

Selling is one of the greatest skills of all time. You’re sure to succeed in any field if you master the art of selling. And it gives you an edge in life.

In fact, with sales skills, you can;

  • Sell yourself
  • Sell your business
  • Sell another’s business
  • And more importantly, make tons of money

But, while selling is a great skill, it isn’t an easy one to learn.

However, here’s a useful tip to help you when selling;

Don’t tell. Show.

The fastest way to get people to buy from you is to show them what your product or service can do for them.

Next time, when making a sales pitch or presentation, show and do not tell.

For example, if you’re selling a coding course

Don’t say: This coding course will teach you everything you need to know about building websites.

No. Don’t say that!

No one cares about learning everything about coding. In fact, they do not have the patience to learn that.

Rather say: I’ll show you how to build your first website in less than 20mins, even if you’ve never written a line of code before!

Now, take a look at how actionable, specific, and compelling our second phrase is. That’s how to sell.

When selling, every part of your statement/sentence should be

1. Practical and actionable. Demonstrate to your prospect what they’re going to gain out of your product

2. Clear and specific. Let your promise/offer be clear, direct, and specific. Stop using vain vague words

Here’s another example of how to sell by showing.

Want to sell a lead generation tool?

Don’t say: Our software will help you generate leads easily on all social media platforms

Rather say: Let me show how to generate 1000 leads daily, free and fast on Facebook using just a software!

Remember, the goal is to demonstrate what your offer can do and how it can improve your prospect’s life. And this is only possible by showing and not by telling.

Again, don’t tell. Show more and sell better!
